A poetic and humorous dance theater performance by Grus Grus Teatteri, uniquely tailored for Åbo Svenska Teater’s café Tiljan.

Humans interact daily with objects such as phones, coffee makers, chairs, and doors. Some of these are pleasant and helpful characters, while others might be annoying or even manipulative. In this performance, a group of dancers and singers gives voice and body to the objects of our everyday lives. Welcome to our living room, Elohuone

The choreographic material is inspired by Bruno Latour’s actor-network theory.
During the creative process, the public is also invited to participate by exploring and sharing their own relationships with everyday objects.

Object dates Café Tiljan (Åbo Svenska Teater) 30.9.2026
Join us for an Object Date at Café Tiljan on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, from 6:30 to 8 pm! The evening is hosted by Grus Grus Teatteri and Åbo Svenska Teater . 

Dramaturg Marja Kangas will open the door to the world of Elohuone. You'll get a little taste of the performance, and philosophy teacher Sini Taneli (from Sfääri ry) will give a mini-lecture that leads into its themes. There will also be time to relax and chat with friends old and new alike. Get a drink from Café Tiljan and spend the evening with us. We promise good company, both human and object.

Entry through the main doors of Åbo Svenska Teater (Aurakatu 10). Doors open at 6 pm, and the program starts at 6:30 pm. Admission is free. Please sign up by Tuesday, 29 September. 

Elohuone is a co-production between Grus Grus Teatteri and Åbo Svenska Teater that explores how people and objects live together. Premiere: 6 October 2026 at 6:30 pm at Café Tiljan. Please note: that Tiljan has limited accessibility
